The death has been announced of former Green Eagles defender, Okey Isima. His former teammate in the national team, Henry Nwosu revealed that Isima died Monday in Abuja after suffering from typhoid fever attack.
Nwosu who confirmed that the ex-player who breathe his last in a hospital in Abuja said:
“So many people have called me to confirm the incident. It was a rude shock for me when the sad news breezed in, that we have lost a patriot in the person of Okey Isima. He was a complete gentleman and he had the love of his country at heart. I just hope the Federal Governmentwill give him a befitting burial and also support his family during this trying time.”
Okey Isima 56, participated in the 1980 Summer Olympics and was a member of the victorious Green Eagles team that won the African Cup of Nations for the first time on home in 1980.
