UNIPORT/Aluu killing

 

Am sure by now most of you must have heard f the Friday killing of four UNIPORT students - Ugonna, Ilyod, Tekana and Chidiaka. The pain and torture they went through before they were burnt alive. Ever since Friday when the news broke, there has been various version of the story which I choose to say - led to the untimely death of four young students.

The first story had it that all four of them were alleged criminals who stole phones and laptops, and I ask...judging from the video I saw of what the boys went through, if indeed they were caught red-handed, why then did we not see any prove (as no item were displayed) and why is it that with all the stories going around, am yet to hear of anyone stepping out to say that the stolen items where his/hers.

I ask...these boys are all from wealthy homes as one was even said to have returned to school the previous day from home with a large sum of money. Two out of them were cousins - Ugonna and llyod who were also into rap. They even competed in last month's Sliverbird rap competion! Guys, you seriously need to listen to their single to confirm that they were talented.

Another story has it that all four of them were members of a cult group ''The Mafias'' who met and decided to go get money from a fellow in a rivalry cult ''Vikins'' which was being owed one of the four victims but on getting there, the guy wasn't home so they decided to chill in a nearby bush to smoke while they wait. Word got out that they were around and a Vikin member (supposedly the one owning they) ran to the vigilante group to report them as the robbers who has been terrorizing the community...they even arranged some girls to testify that the four boys raped them.

I really will like to know what actually happened that led human beings dish out this sort of treatment on their fellow man without any regard for life. Don't get me wrong, I do not support the act of cultism, but even at that, I maintain my stand that those boys certainly do not deserve the barbaric treatment which they were subjected to. We all have heard of mob attack, but never have I seen anything like this in my entire life. from the video I saw, it was like a clearly planned act which was carried out...effectively without any form of intrusion.

Just this morning, I got an interview with the sister to one of the victims in which she claimed she was UNIPORT Teaching Hospital when JTF brought in the burnt body of her younger brother whom she said was going to be 20 years next month (unfortunately that's not ever going to happen). According to her, her other sister was at the scene of the event and pleaded with them to spare her brother and others, but instead of the mob listening to her, they went ahead to beat her claiming that she and her family were the ones that sent the boy to steal. Also, from the interview, it was learnt that police were present at the scene and even gave a go ahead to the whole thing.

The deed has been done...all i can say is that I hope the government wakes up and handles this matter as is meant by bring all those involved in the killing of this boys to book PUBLICLY. I also pray the souls of these young ones rest in perfect peace...amen!
