All right guys as must have noticed I hardly blog over the weekend. Its not that I don't like doing so, it's just that it's kinda beyond me but not to worry as we are working at addressing the issue. For the time being, I'll always try to bring you up-to-date on some of the things that went down over the weekend on MONDAYS. For a start, let's take a look at what went down over the weekend at the ongoing London Olympics where more medals were won.
Usain Bolt of Jamaica better known as world fastest man emerged gold winner of the men 100m last night beating fellow Jamaican Yohan Blake and Justin Gemili of US in a record time of 9.63 seconds. The Legend also made record of being the second man to defend 100m title back-to-back.
Williams Sisters gets gold in tennis double
The Williams sisters [Serena and Venus Williams] became the first players to win four Olympic tennis title after being crowned women's doubles champions at London 2012. Huge right? But that's not all about these Williams sisters.
Remember when Serena made her come back from injury earlier this year...am sure you do. Well, she came back and was place at a ridiculous position on the ATP ranking and apart from that, most people did not give her chance at all. While some said she was too old to compete with her much younger competitors, others said she can never make it back to the top following the injury that took her away for almost one year [if not more]. Despite all as Serena also clinched gold title for herself after defeating Maria Sharapova in the women's singles. Thumbs up girl...you rock!
Murray win's gold
Andy Murray finally carved a niche for himself on Sunday when he got the chance to get 'his pound of flesh' from Roger Federer by defeating him 6-2, 6-1, 6-4 to grab Olympic gold for men's single [Tennis]. The British man went on to describe the win as the best way to make a come back from Wimbledon's defeat to Federer.
finally...
Despite losing mercilessly in the hands of Team US, the Lithuanians and Argentine [basketball event] in the ongoing London Olympics, Nigeria's basketball team - D'Tigers still have something to cheer about. Guess what...they made history as the first African team to win a game at the Olympics after defeating African champions in the opening basketball event of the Olympics.
