I came across this story and can't help but share it with you guys. To me, it's unbelievable to think that 'ugly' Shrek was actually modeled from a person...na wa o! His name is Maurice Tillet, a professional wrestler from France. He was highly intelligent and spoke 14 different languages. In his twenties, he developed a rare disease known simply as acromegaly which caused bone to grow widely and uncontrollably. Soon after, his whole body got disfigured as a result of the disease.
He later left France, became a professional wrestler in America and won American Wrestling Association World title. Tillet was dubbed as the ''freak ogre'' in the ring. There are even rumours that the Sherk character was inspired from Tillet's look.
