Fuel scarcity hits Lagos State

Will there ever be a time when the issue of fuel scarcity will be a thing of the past in this country...a country which is rated among oil producing countries in the world? As bad as it sounds, long queues have emerged at Lagos filling stations and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has said that it just might take some time the get rid of the queues.

According to NNPC spokesman, Mr Fidel Pepple, the scarcity is artificial and was triggered by the destruction of the NNPC pipeline in Arepo, Ogun State. This has made the NNPC to bridge products by truck as against the pipeline. Mr Pepple further disclosed that repairs on the vandalized pipeline may take a while as the organisation is not ready to risk more lives of officials.
