It's been confirmed by Malawian Police that a man over there cut off his own penis and testicles with a sharp knife. Report has it that Pilirani Lazaro of Dowa is currently hospitalized at Kumuzo Central Hospital after cutting of his penis which he wanted to use for money. The testicle which doctors say cannot be reattached, is being kept by the hospital.
According to Mizimba Police spokesman George Kondowe, the issue of genital cutting have become very common in Malawi and recently, four people have been arrested for attempt to cut of a certain Joseph Nyirenda's genitals. He went on to say that private body parts seem to be on high demand by witch doctors and it is believed that people sell penis and testicles abroad where they are been paid heavily for.
Now my question is...what could be the reason for this? Poverty?
