PDP lawmaker beaten to coma in Edo state (Graphic photos)

   
One of PDP's lawmakers, Hon. Rasak Momoh, who is representing Etsako constituency in Edo State, was yesterday beaten to coma at his home residence in Benin city.

According to reports, Mr. Momoh was attacked at about 8.30pm yesterday by heavily-armed thugs who reportedly invaded the quarters, shot into the air, scared away policemen on guard duty before breaking into Momoh's residence.

It has not been ascertained who sent the thugs, but Edo State Police Commissioner confirmed that some people have been arrested in connection to the crime. Momoh had raised alarm on September 29th in the house before he was expelled that his life was in danger. He is currently receiving medical attention at the Accident and Emergency Ward of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, UBTH.

Imo State impeach their deputy Gov for allegedly taking bribe

                                           
Following the allegations of demanding and taking N417million bribe from a Lebanese construction company, the deputy governor of Imo State, Jude Agbaso, has been impeached by the State House of Assembly with 25 out of 26 state legislators who voted in favour of Mr. Agbso's  impeachment.

In the wake of the impeachment, Mr. Agbso has been replaced by the Chief of Staff to Governor Rochas Okorocha, Eze Madumere, as Deputy governor of the state. 

Abuja High Court declares President Jonathan eligible to contest come 2015

                                 
An Abuja High Court this afternoon cleared President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan free to contest in the forthcoming 2015 presidential election. According to the presiding judge who ruled the case:

"After the death of Umar Yar'Adua, there was no election or bye election, President Jonathan was merely asked to assume the office of the President in line with Doctrine of necessity. He was not elected as the President but was made to assume office by virtue of Yar'Adua's death.

“Having exhausted the late President's tenure, he sought for his party's ticket and ran for the office of the President successfully in 2011 general election. He is therefore currently serving his first tenure of office and if he so wishes, he is eligible to further seek his party's ticket through the party's primary election and to run for office in 2015," , adding that President Jonathan’s tenure as President started in May 29, 2011, when he took the oath of office and not on May 6, 2010, when he assumed office after Umaru Yar’Adua’s demise.
