Novak Djokovic beats Federer to clinch ATP world title

Novak Djokovic put a firm stamp on his position as world number one with a stunning victory over Roger Federer in the ATP World Tour Finals. The Serb won 7-6 (8-6) 7-5 to add the season-ending title to his Australian Open victory and top ranking.

He needed two hours and 14 minutes to take two sets in a match of dramatic swings in momentum.

It is the second time Djokovic has won the ATP finale, following his triumph in Shanghai four years ago.

Djokovic beats Murray to clinch Shangai Masters Final

Andy Murray failed in his bid to make it a hat-trick of titles at the Shanghai Masters after losing a three-set thriller to Novak Djokovic.

In their first meeting since Murray's win in the US Open final, Djokovic triumphed 5-7 7-6 (13-11) 6-3.

Murray edged the first set, which had seven breaks of serve, with Djokovic reacting angrily by smashing a racket.

Djokovic saved five match points in the second set before taking the tie-break and breaking Murray twice in the third.

Rafa Nadal: I will not rush back

Rafa Nadal says his steady recuperation from a knee injury is proceeding according to plan and he is not going to rush back before it has healed properly.

In an interview in Madrid, the 11-times grand slam singles champion said he was still feeling some pain in his left knee and would only return to the court when that was no longer the case.

"I am working as much as I can, I am doing everything they tell me to every day and the truth is that right now things are going well, more or less," the 26-year-old Spaniard said. "The only thing is that I need bit more time," he added.

As part of a planned African Tour, International Tennis champions, Serena

and Venus Williams are scheduled to visit Lagos from Tuesday 30 October
to Friday 2, November 2012 as part of the first leg of the recently
launched ‘Breaking the Mould’ (BTM) campaign, a women’s empowerment
initiative that has already garnered international support.

While in Lagos, Nigeria, the dynamic duo will inspire, motivate and mentor
a broad range of audiences through a series of supporting initiatives
which include a gala dinner, a tennis clinic and an exhibition match which
will also be the first time the sisters will pit their strengths against
one another on the tennis court anywhere in Africa.  This will underpin
BTM’s mission to recognise and acknowledge the role that women play in
shifting perceptions and encouraging development on all levels across the
African continent.
