Nigerian professor becomes first black Illinois VC

 Ilesanmi Adesida, a Nigerian professor and  former Dean, has made history when he was appointed the first black Vice Chancellor/Provost for Academic Affairs of Illinois University, USA.

The 63 years old Ondo State born professor is a naturalized American physicist whose outstanding works while in Nigeria in the field of Nanotechnology has received much acclaim in the scientific community. He was the Dean, College of Engineering at the University before the University Board of Trustees selected him to be the next Vice Chancellor for Academics Affairs and Provost, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Professor Adesida assumed his new office last month, August 2012.
